Chemical use for cheating, camouflaging the sap-wood into fine grade in Jepara

O'nei writing:
Be Aware of the using strong Chemical on Jepara's low grade wooden furniture, that purposely done for enhancing or toning the sapwood's color into its nature. Especially for outdoor Teak Garden furniture.
This is such an intention to cheating, or at least to disguise the low grade stuff into a better looking, as if it is a fine wood of high grade ones.
By doing this chemical treatment on the pieces, the seller is expecting to get for easy selling or attempting to get more big profit from it.
If you do not have knowledge or experience about it, you will get a low grade C of Teak Garden furniture instead of the normal fine grade: medium B to A.

The bad impact of this malicious wood-enhancing chemical to the furniture are:
1. Economic:
-Cheating the consumer in marking up the pricing value of low grade wood.
-False of statement about the Quality or wood grade of the furniture,
would bring branding issue of a bad reputation for Jepara-Indonesian
furniture's products. It is such a very big loose and a suicide attempt of it,
after a long way of 25 years establishing a branding image of export quality
wood-furniture.
2. Functional:
-Sap-wood is the outer part of timber: epidermic. Not the wood it self:
Cortex part that provide the fibers tissue of Cambium, oil and resin.
Thus, it is not strong, moreover for outdoor placing,
it will be not last for long.
-Sapwood is also not resistant with termite, bugs, worms and other wood's
predator. having this in your furniture will be a possibility it will turn into
powder/dust.
3. Defections:
-Strong chemical reaction will reactive to the glue at the joinery part of
furniture, many cases of serious damage and dis-part of the units had been
a Big Claimed. During the application this toning process are need to be
heated under Sunlight and or other heater(kiln booth), mostly are in the
assembled/raw finish condition not as components parts pre-assembling
ones. obviously it will open up and splitting the glued parts.
The worse thing was that after they found the defects of splitting after
this heating, they just do a little touch up by gluing with super glue-Alteco,
which only covering the trace of crack and re-do a little sanding on surfaces.
when its had arrived to customers, the cracks and breakages,
would be the top issues.
-Deteriorating Brass and all metals hardware, it will get rusty and corrosive.
during the sailing period, inside the container, the chemical agents will
evaporated or sublimed, the gas will reacting onto the furniture hardware.
4. Toxic and hazardous to health:
-Not 2 or 3 cases been reported of these cases, some importer/buyers must
pay a big hell money after having the court case, that been charged from the
victims of this hazardous furniture from Jepara and other places Indonesia.
Some of the claims are:
The hazard symbol for toxic/highly toxic subst...Image via Wikipedia

- Dermatitis or Skin allergic and irritation.
- Perspiration problem (breathing and Lungs)
- Eyes irritation of the non-visible toxic gas.
- Injuries by accident, caused breakage or broken part of seat units.
- Damages losses caused by broken chairs and tables.

Note:
All Customs of buyer or importer of wooden furniture from Jepara especially Teak Garden Furniture, must do inspection and examination for 'Toxic free' to assure that those stuff will not harming the user/consumers.
Or the buyer/importer must ask a certificate of inspection provided by the Health Office or a like as FDA to be attached for every container as pre-shipment inspection terms/condition.
which is certifying the safe-level of chemical contents on the furniture that may have.
If Australian had applied special regualtion for the wooden pallet and other packing material,
for protecting/prevention of any endemic agents against their Farms. Then it must be a more serious concern upon 'the Hazardous furniture'.
